$1750 tops. And you need to go to www.howstuffworks.com and learn about the rotary first.

1) If it's an '83 (ie: 21 years old) I'd be very suspicious of an odometer reading of less than 10,000 milies per year, in this case any less than 210,000 miles. Unless the owner has proof of original purchase BY HIM (or her), as well as all service records from day one.

2) But most glaringly obvious is the engine being identified as a "rotary 16-valve." Check out the site "how things work" and look up "rotary engine or "Wankel engine." You'll quickly discover that these superior-designed engines have no valves or pistons--- just two triangular "rotors" spinning in their respective chambers.

My '83 had 149,000 miles when I bought it from Teh...it also sat for a year not running, so add 3,000 to that and that's a realistic mileage for a car that was taken care of...timmah, der are no valves in the keg of the rotary, just in the ACV and maybe some other emissions stuff and they don't look like SBC valves, either...

If the owner actually said this to you, then don't buy it. Obviously he doesn't know jack about his own car and therefore probably didn't take good care of it.
Learn about the rotary first... it won't take too long.

Oh man, it's almost as if people in this forum wait for someone to say something like that to jump at them!
