Thumbs up IDA vs DCOE

I used to have an 83' GS with Mikuni 44mm and RB Streetport system. Title didnt work out and now it sits in my yard pretty much. I then moved on to a TurboII and now Ive got the itch for some fun FB carbed action. Carbed FB>TurboII any day for me. I was just curious to any advantages one has over the other (IDA vs DCOE as title says). Im gonna buy another FB/SA one of these days and was wanting to go IDA this time, cause it looks to me like it would be better for power as its closer to the engine with shorter runners. That might not be the case, which is why Im asking. I was thinking Weber 48 IDA, Streetport exhaust again, Fuel pump upgrade, FPR and then for the engine either a 12A streetport or bridge, or a 13B 4 port streetported. Probably the 12A route since its easier as I would already have it in the car. What do sort of power range do you think I would be in with said setup? Maybe 130-140whp with streetported 12A? Thanks guys, sorry I drug it out so long

With the DCOE, the power will come on in the lower rpm. The IDA gives power in the higher rpm range. You can add more phenolic spacers to lower the 'location' of the power band (with your hood dictating the limit as to how many you add) I just bought the 48 IDA to mate up with my street port 12A. I'll be spending some time at the track. But most of my driving time will be on secluded back roads, so I want my power in the upper rpm range. If you're gonna be driving mostly in traffic, then you're gonna want longer runners for earlier power.

I have run the side draft and the down draft, and the down draft did make it's torque about 500 rpm higher than the side draft did.

How many spacers were you running speedturn?

If you're going to use an air filter, you can only use 1 phonelic spacer. In fact, with only 1 spacer, the air filter top cover will rub against the hood.

Anybody ever use, or heard of using something like a stocking material, or something similar. Perhaps something like that manufactured specificly for stuff like carb hats. Would keep out large debris and still allow the hats to breath freely. Plus smaller

You can buy them caps but use the metal screen only. If you use it along with the foam filter, your carb wont be able to breath.

true. I experianced this myself. With the foam and metal the carb didn't flow enough air to rev past 4500 rpm.
