According to published independent reviews, and listed on another forum, the GSL time for the 1/4 was 17.4 seconds, while for the 89 CRX it was 16.4 seconds.
If you could beat your brother so easily obviously his car was badly out of tune or your brother needs driving tuition. It is interesting that in March 84 'Road and Track' rated the CRX as a better sports car than both the GSL-SE and300ZX

I raped a few 7's in my old 1988 CRX.. It had intake, a colder spark plug setup than stock.... and a 50 shot. But hey, it ran great, got good gas mileage, and handled great with my $100 (shipped) ebay springs, and $30 set of front and rear Strut tower bars (shipped). I will not rag on hondas, not because i owned one, but because they can be stupid fast for So CHEAP.

I think this topic was been well exhausted. I have worked with and sold Hondas off and on for almost 8 years now. I have driven almost variation of the Civic from dealer modded customs to Civics like the SI. The fact of the matter is that we are talking about two entirely different vehicles here. One the first generation Rx7, and piece of history and second the Civic one of the all time most economical and affordable dailer drivers ever produced, period.

As mentioned before if you have some money you go from a fartcan civic to a 10 sec 1/4 mile Civic. Last itme I checked this was the Rx7 club forum and here is a fact the best and fastest stock Civic is just only now reaching the levels that lightly modded gen 1 Rx7s have been doing for over 20 years. My widebody doesn't even have a 150hp and it smoked a 197hp SI 6spd that had a well trained driver behind its wheel. The SI does have a higher redline though tach goes to 9k.

So respect for both the Rx7 and Civic is deserved and well earned and by the way saying a CRX can out handle an Rx7 is like saying a suzuki samuri can out handle a 300ZX.

My friends CRX is about the fastest street car in the tri state area. It has something like 500hp. Im trying to find the site where he has all the stats and everything. But I wouldnt run it. I had an accord that was turbo. It was pretty fast but not like OMG Im the fastest car in the world fast. All im saying is if it isnt your regular ricer with a fart can and wing, they can be pretty quick.

Thats because the Civic is cheap.

A buddy of mine had a stock 80 GS and raced this mildly modded GEO Storm and whooped its ***, this was after the Storm was rumored to be the quickest in town.
