AIM Tuning is doing all of the work. Since my school cancelled their independent study automotive class, I have no access to auto tools whatsoever, plus they can do a better job than I could anyway. The car has been sitting for 7 years, so it has a lot to be done to it lol

#1 definately! I was looking into this myself a year ago. You right, 5 speed SC are getting really hard to get. But keep your 7 on the side.

so the final choice is...

well 680RWHP, directfreak and all others gave me some nice things to think about.

I admire your honest input like I said I love this forum because it's very technical, serious and not biased.

I am keeping the seven...

so my plan is exactly on to directfreaks comments which by the way I respect coming from somebody that has enjoyed building up his FB the way he has. I do want not a superfast comfortable car but something nice, quick enough (400 or + whp) and relaxing. An FB is really not all that comfortable.

But I will keep the seven and build it up. Do a nice freshen up, new paint, a new engine prob a weird turbo 12a a.la 680RWHP or a nice 13b and set up a nice suspension on it. So I'll keep it and dump money into it but step by step and try to make it as civilized yet a fast as possible since it's new role will be to be the decompression chamber on the weekends.
So in few words I'll stay with the seven, it's not worth selling with all the love I have given it.

When I had my previous SC (400 which is a v8) I did miss having an FB and yes that V8 had 290hp and sounded sweet but it was no match for an rx7 of any year in terms of being a fun car to drive it was more of a sweet car to drive. So I will work on a better lex, sc300 turbo is a totally different beast and game and I will keep the FB because it's a nice toy and a superb car to work on.

I just need to work harder now and convince my wife into getting the SC, she wants both too but she loves the rx7 I think more than I do.

thanks for the help...

a boosted rotary will smoke a turbocharged is300 any day! no comparison... im not sure about the sc300 tho.........
one of the rotaryshack blowthrough cars smoked a is 300 with the peter farrel kit easily!! the lexus claimed to have made 400 rwhp but it didnt seem like it the way the rx7 walked away !!
but in the end, the choice is yours! #########################2222222222222222222222222 222
400rwhp on an 2jz is just too little on my opinion for a kit...I plan on getting that number straight on once I boost the SC300 with proper tuning of course and that's without cracking the engine open. That should make the car perform a bit better but nothing to be proud off, these luxo cars are heavy. In order to play with the best they all have to go over 600whp to be somewhat "credible" on the street. The cool thing about the 2jz is the reliability and part availability and although it is somewhat expensive if you plan to build a 1000hp monster parts are readily available to hit that mark. So it's a nice platform to work with.

yeah 3k seems like an awsome deal... I wonder why it is so cheap?
well to be honest the car has front suspension damage, has a busted left front suspension A arm, a missing head lamp and a cracked windshield from a stone. The interior is so so and its a highmilage car. So its a beater...now the good part is that the crossmember which is expensive is ok the a arm is not expensive and all the body work is fixed, I saw the pictures of the accident and basically the driver lost control and hit a sidewalk and busted the suspension. The impact was on the tire and broke the wheel and damaged the fender and cracked the front bumper. So really in repairs I'm looking at less than 1k right now, I own a shop so really there is no big deal repairing the car specially since its not going to stay stock. So really to me is a deal I can't let it pass by. The owner doesn't want to sell it but is fed up with the car.

look at directfreaks car for inspiration if that doesn't inspire you. Then give the rotary to someone who truly loves it...

Hmm, a luxury sports coupe + "beater car" + High miles + Damaged = Moneypit! (in my opinion anyway). Sometimes its better to pay a little more for a car that has been properly respected, rather than one that has been used like a 2 dollar hooker...
