I need help! Plugs keep getting wet with gas.

So yea I have an 85 rx7 first gen. Great car for me to start in now but, The spark plugs seem like they keep getting wet with fuel. So the car has problems starting. I was told that it could be my carburator. So i read some threads on how to adjust the idel thing on my carburator so it could idel at 1,000. So i did it yesterday and now it idels at 1,100 better than last time because last time it ideled at 1,500. Way to much.

I'm guessing that to much fuel was entering and not being burned right. So i guess i finished that part but still car takes a while to turn on. So i was thinkning should i might as well change the spark plugs and see what happens from there?

Or is there some kind of timing i have to fix In order to get the fuel mixture burned right.

So can some one please help me. Share your thoughts and knoledge with me so i could fix this problem.

Are you adjusting your idle before or after the choke takes care of warming up the engine?

Well My coke dosnt work. well its not there lol. but hey i think i fixed the prblem after last night tunning i did. Early today the car didnt want to start much. The engine would turn overe and then sound like it was starting vary slowly. so than i took the plugs out again to inspect them and well only one housing in the leading plug hole still had gas in there. So i clean the plugs and self cranked the engine to get the rest of the gas that was in ther.

Finally i put the plugs back in and the motor started fast
so that put a huge smile to my face. Basiclly the whoe day i started the engine it acctually turned on quick. so i guess i fixed the problem. I just need to buy new plugs because it somtimes sounds like it skips when i rev it to 4k.
So i guess i need new plugs and i'm going to do an oil change tomorrow too.

Hopfully every thing goes good from there. Whish me luck. oh happy new yrs to every one!

For starters it helps us help you if you try to use correct terminology. The engine would turn over but sound like it was starting slowly? Is it turning over slowly or taking a long time to start or what?

Are you tuning your car AFTER it has been run/warmed up or are you starting it and trying to tune it cold because that will likely cause poor results.

What do you mean by skipping, mis fire? loud pop, hesitation.... Could be something other than faulty plugs but it is good to replace them every now and then.

Let us know whats happens after your oil and plug change. Make sure to get the right type of plugs for our car

for good measure, i would do a compression test. next, inspect the cap and rotor and the wires. you're replacing the plugs so thats eliminated. make sure the connectors on the ignitors are secure .i would replace the fuel filter. they're cheap enough and dirty ones can cause shuttering problems and fuel cut out etc..
