I hope you guys are sitting down.
Well it all starts about 6 months aog. I friend of mine bought this 84 GSL-SE for 1K. Not too bad its in pretty decent shape it hade a few things that it needed the gauge said 234K but the interior and the engine didnt look like it had that many miles on it. Well after he owned it for 4 weeks we discovered that the water jacket seals were going bad. So he decided that he wanted to rebuild the engine. He bought a complete rebuild kit and we pulled the engine and started the trear down. On inspection we noticed that one of the dowel pins had split from the heat stress. After several weeks he bought another car and decided to give me his rx7. So I bought a new dowel pin and started to clean the engine parts. I got everything all cleaned up but noticed that the rotors had alot of carbon build up in the oil control jackets and the apex seal area making the seals not seat properly. I soaked the rotors in engine degreser and water in 80/20 mixture. I left the rotors in the substance for about 24-36 hours. when I pulled one rotor to check how well it cleaned the carborn. I was using a tooth brush to lightly brush away the carbon when the rotor slipped from my hands and fell to the floor. Now it only dropped 2~2.5 feet. I looked over the whole rotor and didnt see anything out of the ordinary. A few hours latter I was making the engine together to make sure all the seals were seating okay when I noticed that one of the cornor seals were not fitting in the rotor. I had found that when I droped the rotor it fell right on the cornerof the rotor. I tryed to lightly bend the corner back into place but It was not going well. I cant get it to bend properly but not sure what I should do next should I try to find a used one, or should I just continue to attempt to bend the corner back to the correct location. I dont have alot of money so I cant really afford to buy a new one or even a new used one from any of the rx7 parts places. Any ideas I have attaced some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

You should be able to find a good used rotor here on the forum for a decent price.
you are better off to get a new rotor then risk it with the one you bent back. I mean you dont want all your hard work going down the drain on the rebuild now do ya?
PS I think you forgot to add the pics. lol

I had a row of rotors sitting on the bench. A friend came over and was looking at them. When he put the rotor he was looking at back in it's place, he bumped the one next to it. did the same thing. Neither corner or apex seal would fit where he bumped it. After several attepmts to straighten it and get the seals to move freely, I tossed the rotor.
Time to hit the forsale section.
Just saw the pics, I wouldn't fuss with it.

You can pick up a good used rotor for probably $50. If your complaining about spending even that, then get a different car to work on. You'll find that a 1st gen will have you spending quite a bit of money. Take my car for example. I estimated it would take about $2000 to get it running and on the road. I've now got over $5500 into it.

Really 50 where are you looking and can you hook me up? Cheapist I have found that wasnt from a member was 500 for new and 300 for used. I could buy a whole car for that but really only have about 50 - 75 to spend. If anyone has any good lines on a 6 port 13B rotor let me know.
I appreciate it thanks in advance.

it may take a little time but you should be able to find a good rotor for under $150 on this forum. tell the guys who want $300 for a used rotor to cram it up their ***.
this is also a good alternative but will also likely cost about $100 or so.
$50 for a rotor is a great find and sometimes happens but i don't tell people to look for it or expect that because that is a very rare price.

I read the S5 at the bottom in his mod line. When i saw the 300, I assumed it was for an S5, which is nuts for for either one of them.
Hell, I have an SE motor in the shop that's going to get parted out.
