I got 12a unlocked but,

Rebuild a 12a street port on saturday, had to push start it with another car to start it, after it started it shut off and later found out it locked up. I let the car sit sunday with AFT in it, and today i got it to turn over, but only with a socket and big wrench. The starter wont turn the engine over it just makes a loud click. Should i put more AFt in there and let it sit some more or just take it apart again.

I dunno, I dont think a newley rebuild motor should need ATF. It really shouldent be locking up on you.
If I am wrong someone let me know.

Hmm. I thought the only thing that locked up rotary engines was carbon lock? A newly rebuilt engine shouldn't have any carbon. My vote is take it apart before whatever came loose causes (any more) damage. Good luck.

Thanxs for the info guys, i did remove the plugs and it is still very hard to turn over. Also when i torqued the 18 bolts i torqued them to 35 ft lb, is that to much for a street port?

Here is some points to look at :

Did you refit all the relevant parts on the eccentric shaft ? (the spacers and bearings and so on) in the right order ?
What was the endplay on you eccentric shaft ?

Try loosening the bolts a bit, then tighten it in 3 stages.

First to 10 ft/lb then to 20 ft/lb and finally to 32 ft/lb.

I do it in 3 stages, works the easiest for me.

Is there a grinding sound when you turn the engine ?

I decided to pull the engine out and open it up again. Got the engine out and opened it yesterday afternoon, got the back plate, rotor and housing off and everything was ok, so mostlikely something in the front got messed up.I will be taking everything else off today, and will post later.
