I first flooded my SE back in the days before the internets/rx7club. My dad and I went thru the FSM checking all sorts of conductivitys/resistances is the computer, pulled off the intake, checked the PD etc and didnt find anythign wrong so put it back together thinking it was F@#%ed. A few hours after we started the job we got it back together planning to take it in but it started when we tried again. It smoked like crazy until the remaining fuel burned off and was rarely a problem afterwards.
Dont give up on her yet. Get some new plugs and a bit of oil in the intake and I'll bet it fires right up. Probably wouldnt hurt to give other parts of your ignition system a refresher (battery cables, cap/rotor, spark plug wires). You could probably do all (but the plug wires) for less than your plugs will cost you.

... What a POS.
Post some pix of that horrible POS. How many miles?

Maybe I'll give you $50 for that POS. Even tho it isn't worth it.

Just trying to help you out of your misery.

All right.... It started this morning with the old plugs, they weren't fouled. I charged the battery overnight, I cranked w/o the ENGINE fuse in and nothing, but it still smelled strong of fuel, I put the fuse back in and fired right up. Upon starting it shot 2 solid columns of smoke out the exhaust for 5 minutes! It was quite a sight! I drove it to work and errands today w/o issue. So I retract my POS statement, it's all right. I just learned a quirk of the GSL-SE that I was not used or had not experienced with the previous 9 non-SE's I've owned. I will carry a plug a wrench and some extra plugs in the car w/ me just in case I really can't afford to have it stalled out.

Although I don't want it to flood again, I'd like to see if I could resolve it faster next time. Keeping a charged battery is the key to success I reckon.

Bliffle, it's an 85 GSL-SE (produced 4/85) w/ 68k miles on it. All in all I'd say it's as good as new. OK OK... not that pristine, let's call it barely broken in.

Not sure if this is applicable at all.

My SE is gutted- behind the seats in the compartments there is a quick-release for changing out the fuel pump. I disconnected that, so the engine wouldn't get any gas. I took the plugs out, and cranked for about 15 sec, connected everything up, and it started. (I don't know if you're car is gutted like mine, so that may not be a reasonable idea for you.

Also, make sure that you did not knock of a gray sheathed wire connecting to the trailing ignition coil. If that is not connected, the car will not star (I know this from experience). Inside th gray wire is a black sheathed wire. The wire inside the black sheath needs to be connected to the trailing ignition coil, but the outside wire does not get connected into this.

Hope this helps!!

Dan
