I bought it!!

Ok, now that I'm safely home I can let the cat out of the bag. At 6:55 am My plane left LAX bound for Salt Lake City Utah. I arived in Utah and hour and a half later. I met up with Kevin to check out his clean *** 85 gs hardtop for sale. I fell in love with it and knew I had to have it so I forked over the dough. After a 10 hour drive, I'm home. Well really only drove 9 hours, I stopped off in Vegas for an hour to play craps....lol

The car is an 85 hardtop 35k original miles!!! White with gray!!! I have always wanted a hard top.

I have never driven a stock fb that rode as solid and precise as this car. The steeriing is tight, the car is quiet, the idle is as solid as a rock, no bounce at all! The AC blows ice cold. It really is like driving a new car.

I have always owned gsl-se's (never driven anything but an se) and one thing I must say is the stock brakes on the gs really suck! I totally forgot that it had different brakes. I was coming off of an offramp, trying to grab some food and almost went right into the intersection on a red light!!!!! I was thinking it would brake like my se. Boy was I wrong. Anyways, here's some pics. These were the pics from his add. If I took picks this evening, you would barely be able to see the car under all of the dead butterfly's and bumble bee's smashed on the front of it!

What are you doing awake still? If I had that long of a day, I would have probably just stopped somewhere and made my trip a two day event. There is no way in hell that I could drive that long in one sitting after waking up early enough to catch a friggin plane to Utah at 7 am.

*EDIT* DAMN! That thing is clean! I love those seats. I have the same in my car, and I wish I could find some more. The checker pattern looks somuch better than the stripe, IMO.

Man... You sure did get a gem! I can see how that trip was worth it. I'm sure whatever you paid for it was a steal with a car in that good of condition!

I woke up at 4am but I drive for a living so it was a piece of cake! I paid $3,800
It's got a couple minor cosmetic flaws but overall I'm very pleased

I'd check the brake fluid and make sure the system is in good shape. I've driven a couple of SEs and never really noticed a difference in braking compared to my 12a cars.

What a piece of eye candy! $3800 is a little steep on average but that certainly is not average. I think of it this way, if you found something made in the last ten years equal in condition and mileage it would cost more than $3800. Try finding a Miata in that condition for $3800.

Actually that's a GOOD price. Ist Gens under 40K miles are going for about $4000 to $4200 so you did OK. Just take car of it and don't put 10,000 miles per year on it, or it will be worth only $1700 in no time!

Nothing to be ashamed of. This obviously wasn't a daily driver or it wouldn't have 35k miles on it (actually 36k miles now after driving it home). If it had been driven daily, I'm sure it wouldn't look this good. I have never seen gray carpet look this clean but then again, most of the first gens I see are all in the wreckers
I got the stock stereo with this car also but I haven't looked at it, it's all boxed up. I'm sure it's not gonna be the one with the eq like the se's and gsl's.

Limited slip

Only the GSL and SE came with the LSD and rear disc brakes. Excellent looking car!! Good job!
