I'm pretty sure they aren't as I used to have an 85 and now have a 79 and ended up going on ebay to get some non-cracked side markers even though 1/2 my 85 is in my basment.

i have teh FB ones off the at at the moment. i held them next to the SA ones. i think the SA ones are slightly smaller. i still think theyd work, but im not sure.

if you look at this page you can see an SA fender without the light:

https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/pics-half-bridge-rew-62-1-bound-my-se-648276/page6/

to me it looks like the whole is the same size as the FB fender. i think theyll work but im not sure.

Yes they are the same. Mine on my SA were dry rotted and I went to the junkyard and pulled some off of an FB and they fit perfectly.

Yep, they are the same, just matched them up from my old FB to my current SA. I must have confused them with the front lights in the bumper.

Actually there not the same. They are close enough to interchange, aws140 is right about the SA ones being slightly smaller. If you look in the BD catalog, they are different part numbers. But, yes they will work.

Are the SA's not a little lower profile than the FB's?

What you can do is shave the edge off. just don't go to deep and the can use the 85's on the 79's. I used the bench grinder to do this. just do it slow....and don't burn the plastic.
