How to start engine in cold weather with Racing Beat Dellorto intake?
Have got my '82 GS running after it had been stored for 10 years.
Now runs nice after cleaning out the carb etc.
Have a Racing Beat 48 DHLA Dellorto intake
So far it seems to start best on cold mornings with full choke but I'm hesitant to do this because I'm afraid it will flood or foul the plugs. I intend to drive this through the winter (Detroit).
I had read that this carb/intake system can ice up easily in cold weather. Although it did make to work OK this morning (55-60F).
Tell me your cold weather experiences with this carb.
Thanks

Cold starts youll have to experiment until you find out what works, I live in the northwest and durring the winter i use the same amount of choke pull & give it 2 extra pumps. Thats for my car..
Icing problem, get 2 heat riser tubes, Its the plexible pipe that runs from the stock manifold to the air cleaner. Now afix one end of each tube to your header, the other ends point to the manifold
all your doing is directing exuast heat to the manifold to stop the icing. This works great and its cheap.
Parts- 2 hose clamps
2 heat risers/ VW bug heater tubes you can get them cheap
at your local parts house.

I remember the cold start procedure for my 86 FI RX7 was to pump the gas pedal a bit beofre and then start it. I can't imagine that the same procedure will not apply now that I have a 85 RX7. If you ever want to sell that 7 let me know. I live in Windsor.
