How reliable is it really?
Here's the question folks, I found a RB GSL-SE exhaust system (header, pre-silencer, center pipe and the primaflow muffler) for sale but it's rusted. Is that ok? I know RB units are
supposed to be real bullet-proof.... but take a look at the pics.
The car was driven in a rallycross, and there's a lot of red dirt on the exhaust components, which may make it look like more rust than normal. From what I've read and researched, RB is THE exhaust system to buy and I'd like to pick this up cheap if I can. I just want to know that it won't fall apart on me. Anyone with RB (come on I know everyone has it...) have bad experience with RUST? How long (mileage or time) can I expect the system to last? What can I do to clean the rust up and make the exhaust cleaner/last longer?
Thanks for reading and replying!

Airflow is my life
If its resonably cheap, get it. While they may not last a milenium, they are well made and that one looks fine. You really cant do much to make it prettier.

Looks like a good buy if the price is right.
If you are worried about a little rust, than you can get it sandblasted, and repaint everything with high temp paint..

I've got a full RB exhaust and the bends look nothing like that!! there is a funky square mount right off the header to the rest of the piping. If it's got a collector, it will still have the square mounting point to the collector.
It looks to me like someone jerry-rigged something. Look at the welds!!! looks like crap!!

The tubing used for the RB system is so friggin thick that I wouldn't worry too hard about that surface rust. I don't think that anyone has rusted through a RB system yet.
Anyone?

sand back to metal, clean up, rust converter, paint it with some exhaust paint... yes it does exist, they use it on truck exhausts etc looks alright and will keep rust off it for a while longer
