Welcome to the forum.

If you're experiencing high rpm, break up, then check the dizzy cap, rotor button, plugs and plug wires. When I used to street race my 71 Road Runner, points and plugs were replaced every 1-1.5k miles, just to keep that edge. 3-5k miles is more the norm nowadays. Since you don't have points, then a fresh cap, rotor and plugs should take care of your problem. A new fuel filter/air filter wouldn't hurt either. Also change your oil every 3k, unless you're running synthetic and now would be a good time to run a can of Seafoam through the tank.

You could pull the plugs and post pics of them so we can see what condition they are in. Newbs are required to post pics of their car too.

If your engine has stock porting, 7k rpm is fine for max shift point.

The following links are from my sig line, which you can't see due to your post count. In it you will find links to the FSMs, factory carb manual and other recommended reading.

Enjoy.

Well there appear to be a whole lot of FAQs!...so I'll just ask away.... not sure what you mean by replace rotor...do you mean the triangular thing that spins round...because my engine was totally rebuilt 3k ago..? also i don't know what a dizzy cap is...what does the term dizzy... when applied to rotary engines....mean...?? thanks

I understand "dizzy" to mean distributer cap.

He means the electrical rotor inside the distributor cap. (Dizzy cap, for short). The contacts on the distributor cap and the rotor inside it get pitted over time, and interfere with electrical flow to the plugs.

The "button" is the little spring-loaded electrical contact inside the top center of the distributor cap. They wear down over time.

Caps can also get carbon tracking inside them, which can short out part of your spark voltage, lowering spark intensity.

Cap and rotor exchange is a frequent tune up item.

Dizzy also applies to rotary drivers, hehehe.
