(FREE) a buddy bought it from a dealer, in primo cond.
he wasn't happy because it didn't have the power he remembered a friends had. Anyway he moved and needed a place to store the car, I had plenty of room.
Three years later he asks me if I want a car, I said how much? He said zip, I said OK!
Two years and $400.00 (ins. reg. & tune-up) after that
I decided to put it on the road. While tuning it up I found that the lead timing was retarded by 10 deg. and the trailing was 5 more, also had to replace the coasting valve. After all said and done, took it out to play and it surprised the &!#%$ out of me,excelleration was smooth & strong, she got squirlly in 1st,screamed in 2nd and chirpped in 3rd, all the while going mmmmm!
(my first experience driving a rotary) I'm in Love.
It's an 83' GS with no frills, at the time but I've been
upgrading it for the last month, at a local wrecking yard
I SCORED big time, they just got in three 7's an 85 & two 83's, one was an SE and it was fully loaded.
It only took me an 1-1/2 hours to pull the entire A/C
system out (I'm 46 yo w/red hair and live in central Calif.
where the average summer temp is 100 +, so sue me.)
power mirrors, hatch release etc. I even got a set of louvers. The vinyl door panels were original and still soft & uncracked but hardboard was water damaged I took them anyway, I descovered that mine had been recovered with a cheap vinyl kit, after much stapling & gluing I had two great looking original door panels.
Anyway, the car is a work in progress and more fun than I've had in years.
Sorry if I got a little carried away, but the 7's are worth getting away over.
