I have 3 of them. 1983 was $350.00 from a used car dealer, the 84 gsl was $450.00 from the junk yard, bought mainly for the Limited Slip Diff, and the last one an 85 gs for $100.00. The 83 has 97,000 miles the others 190+ thousand miles. The 84 motor is shot, the 85 engine possibly can be overhauled, all 12A engines.
God, I would like to have an FB in realy good shape. The 83 is the one I drive as much as possible, but leaks in the rain and has no heater fan. Have to look into this.
Best regards,
THC

Got my 84 gsl for a little horse trading. Kegerator and a ladder. I've slowed down on the drinking and aren't brave enough without the booze to climb up on the ladder so it seemed like a good idea. No complaints at all.

I got my '83 FB for free. The owner thought it was finally giving up at 122k miles. I'm working on fixing all the little problems that made him want to get rid of it.
New tires, new beehive o-rings, new starter, new start / batter lead...
Needs a new waterpump, too. Nickle and dimed to death, but I still have 150 bucks until I hit my cost to tow... if she hadn't started. Mwuah.

Well, crap - I went thru the whole thread hoping I didn't pay the most....$4151 on ebay (really!) for my 80 with 65K on her. I know I paid too much but it has had 2 So. Cal. owners (bought in San Diego, driving it to Alaska) and it is mint!! The (original) red paint is absolutley BLINDING in the sun. I guess I'm just doing my thing to drive up the resale value for these things. I hope you guys appreciate the effort ...

Just bought an '85 for $1300...
New/newly rebuilt 12A with light porting work and less than 1500 miles on it, '87 manual trans installed, Limited slip rear, carb converted to mechanical secondaries, Racing Beat headers and aftermarket exhaust, decent interior with a few aftermarket gauges installed, and a straight body in decent shape. About the only things wrong with it are a nonfunctional rear wiper and a little cancer on the back end (but not too severe).

Got my '79 GS for $350, non-running. All it took was the fusible links under the steering column for the ignition to make it run again! Then it took a lot of parts swapping to make it *right*, but it ran...
My blue GSL-SE cost me $300 with a coolant o-ring leak, and my grey GSL-SE was free, after helping a friend pull the engine. He was just going to let some wrecking yard tow that beautiful body off. I told him if he was just going to give it away, I'd take it...
Also have a $150 '83 GSL automatic parts car. Oh, an=d the '84 GSL that was given to me on a get-it-out-of-the-garage kind of deal, only runs on one rotor.

love the braaaap
Some people get all the deals. I can't remember if I posted how much I paid for my car, but I paid $500 canadian for it, non running and basically no floor. See my cardomain site to see what I have done to it. Worst deal I have come across yet.

Bid on my 7 on ebay and lost. Saw it on ebay a month later and got it for 675. The guy that won it the first time bought a new starter and battery for it and couldnt get it started. Motor was carbon locked. Freed it up and runs beautifully.

Gentlemen,
For what it is worth, I bought the 83 GS I now drive daily for $350.00 from a used car lot. Bad shape, no interior, shell is good but for rust at the inside of rear wheel wells, 98K and now runs great. Then was in junk yard and found an 84 GSL which I bought for $450.00 delivered. Blown engine, but many parts I shared with a freind who bought an 85 GS, am about to install the LSD in the 83. Then ran into an 85 GS for $100.00 dollars at another used car lot. This is another parts car with a little rust here and there, but many good parts and a possibly rebuildable engine.
I really wish I could find an 48-85 GSL-SE in great shape. But not here in southern Indiana.
Best regards,
THC
