$1800 for my 85 -SE, 130k, some rust, torn leather, horrible paint, drove it for 2 years and 30+k miles, sold for $2000 1st day it was listed.
$3400 for my 84 -SE w/ 115k, perfect in & out.. Spent roughly 5k so far on "stuff" for it.

In 1997, I rescued my 1985 GSL, getting it for free from the "handyman's special" lot at a skanky local used car dealer. The mechanic couldn't get it to start, it needed a re-paint, and had about 1/2'' of crud on everything, so they just wanted to ditch it. It cost $50 to have it hauled 60 miles home, which I thought was a great deal by itself. After letting it sit for a couple of years, I stripped the best interior parts out of another car, bought a few performance parts, did a full cosmetic and mechanical rehab, and built myself a reliable, exciting daily driver that sees occasional track events. 212,000+ and going strong!
Any volunteers for a VIN check, please? JM1FB3316F0911808 Thanks!
Thanks for the thread!

Sharp eye! If someone asked me that, I'd scratch my head all day and then kick myself when told. I had to move it because the existing hole had been wallowed out and was leaking water. I also wanted to install a manually retractable antenna, which had a smaller diameter. Hole saw, cable extension, and a little patch job, before re-paint. I also swapped the wiper-equiped rear hatch with a wiperless one to simplify things - the fluid nozzle remains. Makes my car a "custom car", right?
Thanks for playing.

Bought my '85 for $400 3 months ago.
Spent $300 on replacment parts like rotors, brake lines, and bushings.
Spent $2500 on motor swap with brand new motor, tranny, driveshaft, exhaust, etc.
$3200 isn't bad for a 300+hp car that is almost as new as the day it was sold. The only problem is it needs new door weather stripping and some of the dash vents are cracked. It could also use a paint job.

Bought and 83 GSL and 84 GSL for $100. The 84 had a perfect body with new suspension and exhaust. The 83 had a motor with only 30k on it and a body rusted through in several places. Put the 83 engine in the 84 car and sold the 83 for parts for $100.

Paid $2200 for my first SE. New housings, 86-89 rotors, lightened steel flywheel, and my favorite 4.44 gears.
Paid $1300 for the second one then crashed it.
Then will pay maybe $3500 for FDRacers SE.
Damn SE's

I paid only $100 for my 1979 gs in good running condition
I also have a 1988 vert that was free, with a new motor having only 3000 miles on it.
And I also just recently purchased an 1986 sport for $200 in nice shape witha blown motor with RB header/presilencer now headed for the vert.

I traded a transmission job on a tractor for my first one 7 years ago. then got 2 for 200 dollars. drove one but its too rusted out now, but the other one that was supposed to be for parts is now in the shop, no rust on it, redoing the whole thing, just finished suspension, now working on all new break lines and fuel system. already did the interior , was red, now black, with blue accents on the grill and center console, white gauge faces with blue backlighting, blue gauge surrounding piece, new carpet. going to buy a streetported engine from atkins next month, and then im going turbo. setting up the dlidfis on my old car so i can transfer it to this when its done, gonna be sweet.
