I've got about 6k in the widebody, with less than 200 bucks in outside labor costs. The rest is parts and more parts.

A guy at Autozone that I know loves the car and asked if I would sell it to him and how much. I told him 18k, when I'm done. (If ever)

I think I'm in the running for cheapest.

$350 purchase, drove it home, new tires, radiator, exhaust
$35 Parts for Rats Nest Removal
$10 2GCDFIS
$20 Headlight upgrade
$ 0 replaced frozen rear calipers with spares
$40 Full lub change with Synthetic
$ 0 Minor rust removal

Looks like crap, drives great, 24 mpg average now.

Body work this spring......

Of course I own 3 and the other two, well......

I won't put a total cause I don't want to know what it all adds up to....

$5200 - 1984 -se 50,000 miles, no winters, all original
$650 - refinish -se mags
$80 - 8mm silicone wires
$56 - spark plugs
$60 - dist cap and rotor

$400 misc interior parts from VB and Mazdatrix
$35 - 2nd gen leading coil
$250 - (incl shipping) factory original rear spoiler
$200 - misc interior parts from Mazda

to come:
transistor trick - over $200 when complete with 2nd gen wires and plugs

"Anyone know how to make a fortune in racing???" <grins> Start with a large one!!

Been wanting to do an expense report on this sob...

traded 94 accord auto 140k in "ok" shape for 88 gxl 5spd 154k + got 1800, and my accord was pretty much at that point a recovered theft, hacked up with mods and overreved like hell on an msd box (yep 7k shifts on a 6.2 stock redline..)

stock clutch burnt, went stage 3 six puck.. 750$

wanted to fix a small dent on a fender autozone / everdrive 175
got the paint matched.. 150$, bought the paint... 75$

crashed drivers fender again, bought parts car for 400$

parts car got me...
racing beat mufflers
turbo II hood
replacement fender
door
spare 6 port block

bushings went on the rear wheels DTSS 40$

elec fan $ 125

air pump is loud as hell, ac stopped working, got block off plates. pulled ALL ac. 30$

megasquirt v3, having second thoughts, looking to sell actually 225$

im in for new motor mounts, a carb, and getting rid of all my efi equipment, and the rest of a rb true dual system, thats it, maybe a 7in camden kit.

time and investment in buying the tons of oil it goes through... 5$ a week about
bottle of brake fluid every other week (another thing needing replacement)

all the priced stuff adds up to 30$ short of 2k. thats all in reliability mods.

add in the new rb true dual exc. mufflers, master c/slave c/brake booster, aweber 48ida or 45 dcoe and manifold; tourqe brace to handle the clutch, new motor mounts from not getting a brace; there is another 1500~?..

I calculated it once after being a DD and then having two engine rebuilds and everything I've done to this engine........... ETC. ETC. ETC.............................. I figured it out a few years back, it was close to 24,000 thats including the cost when bought new...... sad that I will NEVER get that money out of it......... not that I will ever sell it
