The fort collins car was mechanically good (wasn't a GSL though), but cosmetics were an issue, Youl'l see another post about the test drive on the board. I think Il'l go take a look at the other car. I am having the Fort Collins guy take it to the mech this week, but if this other car is nicer, I might see if I can't get that called off.

I know what they added for the SE, also the denver car has leather. The F. Collins car is not actually GSL, just the base S. Il'l stall fort collins while I look at this car, I'm glad this came up this week not next

The denver car was way better. The only things I could find wrong, were a low idle, not surging though, and a repetitive chirping sound under hard acceleration. The sound was almost like a sqeaking belt, but not sustained long enough, and it wasn't going fast enough to be a belt, and a little lower in pitch. Does this sound familiar to anyone? What about the idle? I know that the gsl-se's have touchy idles, but would this be a big thing to fix.

if i were you, unless your dad is going to pay for the fuel as well, i would jump all over a civic.
I myself am looking at one. But , don't listen too close to me, i own two FB's and looking at getting a couple more when money allows it.

I bought a piece of crap for $500 canadian. Didn't run and bin rust was almost to the point of non repairable. I got it running on about $2000 worth of work, but since the engine gave up on me, its now closer to $3000 to get a $500 car running.
BTW, if you convert that to american dollars, its probably only about 3 bucks!! J/K. but seriously, it hasn't been a cheap car to own, but I can say I brought a car back to life. It was bad enough when I got it that the car should have been in the junkyard. Its also the funnest car I have ever owned, even though it is a little on the slower side (but not after the 13B swap).
edit, about the fuel issue. I think having bad fuel mileage is just a side effect of having a fun to drive car. Think about it, any car that is fun to drive is not likely going to get more than 25 mpg. A REAL sports car will only get a max of 20 mpg. And if you want to have some real fun, get ready to spend about 10% of your driving time at the pumps.

I bought my 79 Widebody from zyounker on the forum for a grand. Best car I've ever owned. It taught me how to work on cars... now, I'm considering a career in it.
I GOT my 81 parts car for free from a friend, and it ended up being not much usable.
I bought my 82 for $2800, and dumped another $4000 into it, and sold it for $6500. I lost some money, but it was worth it.
I bought my 81 GSL automatic as a daily driver.... it caught on fire.
I bought my 84 GSL-SE for a trade of an entertainment center, plus $200. Had fun, but sold it for $2500.
I bought my 85 GS... the latest project... for $200. So far, if you add up all the parts that are wrapped up into it, it's got about $8000 into it. But I'd much rather part it out than sell it. It doesn't run, and I'm broke as ****.
It can be a VERY addicting habit fixing up first gens. It can also be lucrative if you buy the right parts. I consider myself a restorer, but I'm in NO means the same league as some of the people on here. Just buy some good parts, and drive each car to it's fullest potential. Otherwise, you're just pissing money away just so you can say, "I have the Racing Beat this, this, and this..." Make it worth your time and money.

My point is that there's plenty of very fast cars that get good mileage. 1st gens can get good gas mileage too if the engine is stock and in good working order.

^^^my engine is a stock 12A and in good working order but man it eats up gas like a ****....but i tell you on thing no way in hell is that gonna stop me from driving her......
