Hey untamed. We don't mean to come off as ******** but seriously we get these easy to find questions ALL THE TIME!! In all honesty it is very easy to find this answer. That is why the SEARCH button has been addressed in a previous post.

100 hp rated at factory.. god its called google, im a newb hear for cripes sake but i have a clue. look in the1st gen faq section for future questions before consulting the experts here (not me of course)

Your question has been basically answered, 100hp for the totally stock US model 12A engine. This is the detuned version to satisfy emission controls. The rest of the world received the engine with up to 115hp.
This power is at the flywheel, what you get at the rear wheels is about 82hp.
Keeping to the stock engine and improving with bolt-on and take-off components you can get an extra 50hp. Add a small turbo gets you another 50hp if the engine is in good condition. Now if you rebuild the engine with larger ports then it is a different ballpark, up to 300hp or 400hp if you go turbo. Your car may end up not street useable or legal, but it is an easy way of spending money without effort.

I find that most new poeple cant just use the search button(the pull down) try using anadvanced search to better your reasults.

Welcome to the forum, and the Dark Side. We are generally a good bunch, but on occasion we have our bad days answering the same newb questions over and over. We really don't mean to chase you away. We have over 1000 pages of threads and occasionally a question gets asked that has not been answered somewhere in there, but it can usually be found using the search function. Unfortunately, with so many pages, searches can produce a lot of garbage. I have found that somedays it pays to wade through all of it because I still learn something, even if it wasn't what I was looking for.
Somedays I just sit and read to see if I can find some little tidbit that I didn't know and if these old brain cells manage to remember it, I can pass it along. Doing so has resulted in a rather high post count, but I can't say I'm smarter than many others with smaller counts.
Now that you have recieved your first flame, and it was a bit overly harsh, hang around, you will come find the forum can be a 2nd home, quite useful, informative and occasionally stupidly humourous.

I don't mean to be controversial here, but isn't the official rating for a stock 85 GSL 105 HP, not 100 HP? I think "newb" questions about "stock" questions that the "experts" have answered "a thousand times" are a good idea, a lot of times the "stock" answers aren't quite right!
