I have a friend that bought a one owner SE that is now pushing 244k. I have seen reports of over 300k on an original engine.

1982-all original

doing ~ 102,000miles
smokes a *tiny-tiny* bit on startup. Doesn't always fire up the first time, but I just got it last year and it had 83k on the clock. So I'm guessing it just sat around for a really long time and just needs some parts replaced. It has a tiny oil leak (looks like dowel pin), but it takes a while for it to show up. Needs to be topped off a quart about every 1500-1800 miles. and 3rd gear grinds a little if I shift quickly, but Red Line makes it shift A LOT smoother.

Wasn't there some guy here with a '79 SA pushing 400k?

all original 82

I just picked up an all original 3rd owner 1982 gsl with 157k on it, with original Nikki carb, Mazda rotary engine air cleaner housing, back seat, leather interior, etc. The only problem is that the timing is off, and it'll die a few times after warm up because it idles at about 4oo rpm for about 10 min. after the choke kicks off, then bumps up to about 800 rpm. The paint is going a bit shitty, but other than that, this car is the car of my dreams (minus 13b motor, 4 port carbeureted...) and I never want to go back to pistons.

Man I Wish I was still part of this group! I have an Orignal owner 83 LE ran strong for 165k until it lost compression in the rear rotor. Sadest day admitting defeat, Happest day turning over a fresh rebuild!

I'm the third owner of my '83. Until last night it was running perfectly with 167,712 miles on the original engine. Now I've got a monster oil leak somewhere... Although the car still runs soundly, I can no longer say it's been problem-free.

'84 with 133,000 km on the original engine, meaning about 80, 000 miles? Runs very nice, everything works, and the paint still shines with no rust.

my dad is the original owner and he is hopefully going to pass it down to me someday, i mean i am restoring the entire car right now haha. it has its original 12a that has never been taken apart and same for the carb. somewhere around 167XXXk on the odo and still has good compression. recently replaced cmc and rebuilt the omp. also the pressure plate has been changed and fuel pump and water pump and basic mantenence but other than those its all original. original really cracked leather seats/leather steering wheel, cracked dash, paint, etc. i hope my rotary will never die =]

In the process of changing out the engine for a fresh street port.

Last winter I took the original engine (I'm the original owner) with 186,000 miles on it, still running good, but smoked like crazy.

85 SE, 2nd owner 210,000 / smokes at startup after sitting other than that runs good. I just put a little bit of Lucas in the oil. I will be restoring it over the next few years. Interior is very nice, exterior needs ding removal and paint.
