I am continually on the search for an 80mm (3 1/8"), in-dash, black faced, 10,000rpm tach, that is of good quality.

So far, everything I've found is three of four. Argh.

When I find something, I'll let you know. If you are looking for an 8k tach, I think I can find something that'll work in-dash, as long as you're willing to accept non-red backlighting.

Depending on how the backlighting is done on the new tach, it shouldn't be hard to change the color. If it was jsut another 8k tach, I probably wouldn't go through the trouble putting it in. The new engine I built should be able to take around 9k no problem, so I'd like a 10k tach.

I have an autometer 10k pro-comp guage in mine, and try to not take the engine above 8000. I am hoping that it is a pretty accurate little thing. I tried to find some 3 3/4 inch guages to no avail, so I had to rig the 3 3/8 one.

I have a very well built streetport and i like to let it ripp. When I street race I usually take it to 9k rpm when I go to the track I take it to 9500. Right now she is down and the motor still needs to be broken in. (better apex seals and high compression rotors)However, as soon as I get it to stay on again and hit 500 miles on the engine, that all she wrote. Looking for 12's all motor

Any way to put the guts of a new tach into the stock location? I'd make a stock looking gauge face for it, except it'd be calibrated for the new tach.
If you'd hate the look of another tach, then just rig it temporarily under the hood and get a reading to remember (on both tachs of course) then let your Honda mate who will no doubt buy one of these install the big 6" clock in his car for those times when he wants to go around with a 4K shift light (or some poser madness) going crazy

Sorry - couldn't resist.
I liked shifting at about 7200 on stock 4 and 6-port 12a's and often though if you wanted to do a decent 0-60 run let it go to 60 in 2nd gear to get a good time with out 2 shifts. It revs a bit more like that but I can't remember how much.

OK my tach bounces I never said I have a rev limiter. It's a strong motor. It's a SP I'd really like to know the apex seals and I think unfortunately I might find out all too soon. But for real guys ask Carl the engine is strong.
