Power? There is a great link in the FAQ about upgrades. Check it out. If you're having to deal with emissions, check out http://www.rx7.com/store/rx7/saexhaust.html for the bonez replacement catalytic converter. Most likely yours is trashed and not working properly. With this, you will pickup power and reduce emissions. www.racingbeat.com has a fully bolt in exhaust system , but it comes with a price...

You can pick up 50 more HP with just bolt-on mods and relatively little money for the gains, lots of wiggle room is there, the factory was conservative with the 12A.On more modern cars, you can spend hundreds of dollors more, for only a few HP gained.
Just remember, when you start getting into power mods, the smog output and fuel consumption are going to worsen greatly. Those are the 2 primary reasons that Mazda stuck with the smaller 12A and didnt push much past 100HP.
Exhaust and ignition should be the first mods, they will net you good gains and tend to be the bottleneck systems of the 1st gen that hold everything else back. Then look at the intake/carb and flywheel/clutch to make the most from the other mods, and add some zing.
