How do I clean my gas tank?

How and where would I clean my tank?
Can the filter be inspected and/or cleaned, or how do I know if it should be replaced? TIA

I had to redu my fuel tank because of rust. I used Por-15
http://www.prp-porshop.com/merchant....gory_Code=Kits

they have a kit with everything you need. Worked great on my tank.
as for the fuel filter....replace it. I put a clear one so that I can make sure that it is clean.

I just went through this, first check to see if you have a drain plug beneath the tank, I did and it was sweet. If you don't either drain the tank with a hose (it will fight you) or remove the tank and empty it manually.

To drain the lines disconnect your fuel line near the intake, the feed line does not have the aluminum check valve in it, then turn your ignition all the way to the on position and the pump will push the crap through. Run it until your old gas is gone, add some fresh gas and run it again until you are getting only clean gas. Then change the filter, it is a cheap item from any parts store.

If the car has been sitting the carb will still have bad gas in it, mine did, I added clean gas into my carb and started the engine, it ran bad as it also had MMO through it, clouds of white smoke.

Once the old gas is gone make sure you ad some cleaner to your fuel to help the carb deposits break up.

Changing the fuel filter, it is held in by a wire clip, release the clip, then the clamps, inspect the rubber hoses while you are at it.

Change the spark plugs as they will be fowled by now.

Viola you're done

If you did not notice, he has a fuel injected SE. The fuel pump only runs when you are cranking the engine. The SE should have a drain plug on the tank. Only the SA cars did not have the drain plug as far as I know.

Actually the fuel tank runs when the ignition is in the on position, the same position as when the car is running, you don't drive down the road with the starter motor cranking.

No, there is a difference between having your key in the on position, and having your motor running and in the on position. If the fuel pump ran while the key was in the on position, then I would be flooded out everynight when i sit in my car without it started and the key in the on position listening to music. It runs while its cranking.
