how do i adjust my timing?

i know the answer is prolly sumwhere, but i SUCK at searching on this site, so dont hate me. haha.

but ok. right now, i have no idea how to adjust my timing. and im only aking becuz my car backfires like a mafia showdown wen i decel\shift and sumtimes wen i coast.

so wat do i look for and how do i fix it??
