Kent. I have too thought of using a generic buzzer in the 80-83 dash. I have also thought about using the shift buzzer curciut to maybe trigger a shift light. If it's possible, let's try to do it both ways. I have a SA and FB to experiment on. Just let me know what you think ![Big Grin](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

If it works, we can do the same thing for your SA and/or FB.

I did read the thread. I read that it was probable that '80-83 didn't have them based on the parts microfiche and the member whose cluster didn't have one. On the other hand, we've had members claiming the whole time I've been here that all RX-7s had them. I don't know for a fact one way or the other, but I do know that mine doesn't buzz when it hits redline, so I was adding my confirmation that yes, that's probably the case that some cars didn't come with them. But either way I don't miss it.

Yeah. I was going to ask if you still had the cluster from that parts car ('81). If so, maybe I could grab it the next time down to experiment. Basically build the circuit and then wire a buzzer from another 7 or a generic one. You could make it adjustable and wire it to a light to make a shift light. Have to find a way to wire it to make it pretty, though.

That would be cool. Either way works (Sam's parts car or your cluster). I would then pull my cluster to get the values for the parts and then build/test the circuit. I could rig something to bench test it, or we can toss it in someone's S2 car and see how it works.
I see this as being the only option for 81-83 guys who want the buzzer. The '80 guy can just get the '79 cluster (higher MPH speedo as a bonus).

Sounds like a plan Kent. I have a spare '79 dash here also. Both of the '79 dashes I have, the buzzer doesn't work in them any more. I would like to fix them both, and see if we could build a circuit to do the shift light (or buzzer) in the Turbo FB. Just let me know the next time your down

On a side note. It never fails. No matter what the topic is about, there is always going to be someone who post a smart a$$ responce...................

Sounds good, Sam. Maybe I can try to fix those clusters for you as well as grab a naked cluster (buzzerless
) from either you or Stu. Since I am sure the circuit board for the circuit comes on all of the tachs, we should be able to rebuild the buzzer circuit once we know the correct values of everything. I'll put together a how-to once I get to that point.
Once you have the circuit in place, it would be just as easy to have a light instead of the buzzer or both even.
