Homemade body kit update

all I have to say is Damn fine craftsmanship. I could never do that by all hand that is just amazing. I plan on working into something like fiberglass in the next few years hopefully I will get to that level some time. Truly amazing and job well done.

I like it, I think is original and different. I would not like to have it like everyone else so the flares seem very nice on that. Just need to paint the car to see the final result once you are satisfied with the appearance.

It wouldn't take much to blend the fender shirts more. Like I mentioned having to stop progess while I move is a good opportunity to live with the car awhile. It's hard to visualize everything when the car is on jack stands in the garage. i definatly was going for a unique look, I figured whats the point of copying someone elses design. Thats what I love about the 1st gen, the endless potential. As I was building this one I was constantly thinking what if I did this or that.
Thanks for the feedback all

Its different but I'm not a big fan of Bondo. It almost seems like your going to be forver haunted by cracks in the front and sides whenever you hit a bump. The work looks great but its just not what I like to see on 1st gens.

I have thought about making molds. It would just depend on the amount of interest in buying a kit. There is very little bondo on the car just where fiberglass meets the metal, as for cracking time will tell.

I gained about 2 1/2 inches in the front and rear. The wheel adapters moved the tires out almost 2" so I cut the fenders just above the factory flair. I have 205 /50r15's on it now but I plan to put wider tires on later. The wheel adapters are 4 X114.5 so I have lots of offset options available and room toward the car.

very nice!
since you have gone that far are you sure you want to stick with the stock tailights?
that would seem like a big thing that would hold you back on designing a rear end
but as what you shown you can make just about anything work
keep up the good work

For doing it your self +1!! Good job. But i think if you can ( like someone mentioned earlier ) try to see if you can blend the fenders a little more to the body....AND the car definetly needs the space for bigger rims as well. i think on the side skirts if you did a little extra design element to it instead of it being just a straight shot i think the car would stand out a little better as well. But so far so good mang. Nice craftsmanship!

I definatly have room for bigger wheels, they are 15s now. I didn't lower the car and I have lots of room with the fender design. I cut the fronts out 1/2"- 5/8" and plan to do the same to the back. I may try and blend the fenders some but I can't do it with bondo, I have been real careful to keep the body kit flexible so it can move with the body if I put bondo on it will crack for sure. I would have to cut the top of the fender skirts out and re-lay the fiberglass to the new line, that would involve cutting the fenders back more and redoing the wheel wells again. Maybe I'm being to **** but I suspect these bodies move and twist quit a bit, besides I'm running a stock 12a with header and I have a low mile 12a waiting for a teardown and port job to give this ride some go.
