Homemade body kit update

I thought I would post some pics of my car in primer. I am moving so the final paint will have to wait.

Very cool, Is this an adapted kit, or all done yourself??

I really like the front end and the skirts.... Im on the fence about the fenders tho, only thing is the radius looks a bit small for the wheels, though I say this solely as constructive criticism . I definately have to give you props man, most people wouldnt even attempt such a thing, you made it look prety damn good!!
Good work, keep it up and show us a picture once you throw some color on it!

The kit is all from scratch. I could open the fenders a bit, it's actually kind of nice to drive it awhile to see if I want any changes before I paint it.

Cool! extra props then! haha

I gotta say I love the way the flared fenders look from the front, the way they stick out looks so mean!

What did you use to flare the rear?

Having done quite a bit of body work myself I'll tell you that has humbled for sure, I couldn't pull off something like that. Style wise I would have done a few things different, but you certainly know what your doing. Is it fiberglass or what? two thunbs up

I cut the fenders back and used styrofoam molds to cast them in fibreglass

You definitely did a gret job on it. My styling preference would have led me in a different direction, but what you did is lightyears from my capabilities. Good job.

Nice job. The rear end looks a little funny but it still looks good.

The back is tough because I haven't seen one I really like. I tried a more square honda style and it really looked dorky

Looks great, but IMO you need to cut the fenders open a little. The wheels look too closed in. But very nice work nonetheless.

the only thing I would sugest before you get it painted is to as the other guy sead cut the fenders open a little more and in the back I would look into making the transition from the body to the flare a little less abrupt give it more of the flow with the body instead of the just spaed on there look but again its your car and as I say what ever rocks your boat.

I'll look for pictures of the different back styles I tryed. I must have pissed someone off somehow because I got a virus in my computer and lost a bunch of stuff, thats the only reason I can figure out for writing those things. Thanks all for the comments and feedback. The first time I posted the car in progress someone suggested fog lights and I'm still thinking about that as well.

I think you are right, I purposly left the flares long so I could remove material slowly. I'll post some pictures as I remove material and open them up a bit. The front is rubbing a little if I turn sharp on rough ground but surprisingly very little

How did you do the back end? Did you leave the bumper in there? Or make the whole thing? nothing adheres to the rubber bumper...

Thats actually a very good idea and good job on thinking ahead. There are a lot of people that probably wouldn't have done that, including me. I think even a half inch would make a lot of difference in the look. Definately post pics up.

I removed the front and rear plastic, blew the oil out of the bumper shocks and welded them. The aluminum bumpers are there but I shortened them by taking the metal light holders off the ends. The bumpers are also 3" closer to the car front and rear. The fiberglass is bonded direct to the car body with a 3/8" gap between it and the aluminum bumper filled with dense foam. If I hit somthing the fiberglass is toast but I wanted to lose the bumpers hanging out there.
