well im lookin down the cat now it has like a oval aluminuim thing inside i doubt a broom could break it

time for a drill and to go primal on this cat
"that fucking cats back"

hay ausie did you ever go to a kevin bloody wilson show?

84RX_Se7en 05-23-06 12:14 AM

2bls not working...

The honeycomb? It's not very strong. Just try shoving something long and hard in there and see if it breaks it up.

trochoid 05-23-06 12:16 AM

300, ouch, but then I do my own. If you're going headers, you will need a pre-silencer/mid-muffler. If you have been following the thread on the the Borla, go that route when you can afford it for a mid-muffler.

blwfly 05-23-06 12:17 AM

it all depends if you have vaccum setup or the twisty tie mec secondarys
i have mec secondarys i can actually feel on the pedal when im bout to open the secondarys

ill check that thread out but for the mean time i can just run a straight tho and put up with the exsesive noise "ill have too:("
then later get a shop to add the aditional bola etc??

trochoid 05-23-06 12:27 AM

Hell, if you were closer, I could install the header and provide the Borla for less than 300. Not that tough to do. You might shop around a bit more.

blwfly 05-23-06 12:37 AM

hehe i have been for 2 weeks now since my cat started to fart alot
is borla a expensive brand new

hehe i just looked you up on the map lol it would take at least a week to drive:)

whats best under or over axel?
ill consider rb springs later iv heard people with 3" under axel and it dont scrap what you think scott

trochoid 05-23-06 12:53 AM

I went over axle with my 3". My mid-muffler scrapes when I cross the sidewalk going in and out of the drive. You don't need to go any bigger than 2-1/4 or 2-1/2", unless you are going bp or a large turbo. Over axle is fine.

blwfly 05-23-06 12:54 AM

one more thing

since i got no gaskets for the header
could i get a shop to make the straight through pipe connect to the conecton after the stock manifold conection and bolt my header on later.

doze that sound right?

trochoid 05-23-06 01:08 AM

It will be cheaper to install the header now, straight pipe from there, then add a mid muffler later. Black Dragon has the big exhaust gasket for 15, if you have a single outlet header, get a stock sized metal faced gasket. If dual, buy the collector, flange and gasket.

I personally hate to pay for doing the same thing twice.

blwfly 05-23-06 10:24 PM

maybe you didnt understand my kiwi english:)

it has been stated a few times in threads that a rb header with a collector"2pipe-1pipe"
which is what i have

will fit the stock exhaust system so what i was askin is after the stock manifold conection there is another conection then it goes to the pre cat conection then cat converter etc

so im guessing the header should fit to that second joint because of the angle lenght etc

so in other words i could put the header on when i get gaskets
i know whart your saying it would be better to do the whole thing
but the american cops are asshole from my once experince and a loud exhaust ticket cost over 300$

thats a new exhaust in fines lol

i hope that makes sence
just trying to get my question across mate. no worrys
scott your allways helpfull and i really apreciate it :icon_tup:

Nicholas P. 05-23-06 10:39 PM

if you rev it up and it backfires alot as your let it go down, bye bye apex seal.

dosnt do that:)

trochoid 05-23-06 10:46 PM

The headers will replace the 2 pre-cats. How it mates with the main cat varies with the type of header. If you have the dual outlet headers, you need the collector and flange, then decide if you want to run duals to the axle or single pipe it right after the header.

If noise tickets are that expensive, you WILL need a pre-silencer of some sort. If you can't afford a Borla now, at least stick a cheap glasspack in there until you can afford the Borla.
