holley question/problem...

i swear i move 1 step forward and 2 steps back... today was plenty nice enough to work under the car(finally!) so i installed my starter, oil cooler, and fuel pump switch(got rid of the relay, not using any of the stock stuff), so now my fuel pump is working, but when i switch it on, my secondary's bowl fills up with fuel, and starts leaking out the gasket... that parts the easy fix... what isn't the easy fix is the nozzles start leaking fuel... what going on? why would they be doing this when the throttle is fully closed? any suggestions or ideas? anything would help about now... its so close to running its not even funny

ok i took the needle out of the rear bowl, exercised the float slightly, now no fuel leaks out of the nozzles, and it wasn't the gasket the fuel was coming from, but now there is fuel coming from another spot, i'm bout to post a small vid, shouldn't be more than a few hundred kilobytes, to show where its coming from.... gotta make it divx first tho

what is the float set at? make sure it's no higher than the sight hole is. it should just barely dribble out of it when you have the screw out.

yea, drop your float level. it's probably way too high. there should be a screw on the upper side of the float bowls, pull it out, and turn the fuel pump on.. set the float to where fuel just barely dribbles out of that hole. then screw it back in and your done.

uh


why would i want fuel dribbling out of a hole on the outside of my carburetor? exhaust manifold isn't far from there...

no, that's only while you "set" the float. once the float is "set" you put the screw back in. when the screw is back in, no fuel will drip out. if you do not do this, gas will most likely just keep flowing as it currently is. the car does not have to be running to set these floats. just have the fuel pump on so there is pressure.

a bud of mine checked out the vid, its the transfer tube leaking... need a new o-ring, i'll be picking that up tomorrow

awesome, but if you havent ever set your floats, or even checked as to where they are set at, i suggest you hit that up. could save some tuning troubles down the road. good luck

couldn't tell u, just running a OEM style 12A fuel pump, an AC Delco... this is the same carb that was in my repu before i sold it, and it worked great

its a racing beat setup, bout 10 years old now, was on a 4 port 13B, but now its on a 6 port 13B, with a new manifold of course
