Holley carb hp trick? turning it around? anyone?
Has anyone ever heard of this mod? What you do is take off the carb and manifold. the flange on the very top of the manifold where the carb sits, cut it off. Turn it around so it faces the carb the opposite direction. (so the throttle bracket will now be pointing toward passenger side fender) You will obviously have to modify your throttle cable and oil inection etc. I hear this is good for about 15 to 20 hp on a bridge port 12a. I am told that it opens the throttle plate toward the intake instead of away... Does this make sense to anyone? Anybody ever do it or heard of anyone doing it. I am going to get my car running first and dynoed then when i get the itch for more power, im gonna give it a shot.

I don't see why it would.
Holleys are generally squarebore, meaning the primary and secondary bore and venturi sizes are the same. (Some of the larger carbs have slightly larger secondary venturis but for all intents and purposes they're the same) So there'd be no advantage there.
Also, the throttle blades open symmetrically - the secondaries open in the opposite direction as the primaries. Turning the carb around would make no difference with respect to "aiming".
Now, there MIGHT be a part throttle difference. I can't comment on that, other than to say that if you're at part throttle, and you need more power, push the pedal down more. If you're worried about an "extra 15-20hp" you shouldn't be at part throttle in the first place.
