Hitting Deer at 40mph = bad night
This really sux. For all those that think that New Jersey is all about factories and cities, guess again. I live up in the north west part of the state where hitting deer is actually a common experience. There have been several incidents of people hitting black bears too. Anyway, it was a great night untill I bagged bambi. I'm just glad I wasn't in the 7 when this happened. I can't wait to see how much it'll cost to fix this. Any guesses on repair costs?

well, it looks like it didn't go into the door. the fender would be replaced at your discresion or repaired with bondo/duraglass. also, the shop would replace the headlight assy and corner lamp. prob about 275.00 from the dealer. they would have to blend the paint into the hood, bumper and door. its really not all that much labor. you are prob looking at 300 in parts minus fennder and about roughly 400 in labor at roughly 51 dollars an hour labor. my father owns a body shop and when i was a kid through my teens, i helped him and learned and kinda watched the cost of things.

My friend smoked a deer in my 7 (don't know how fast he was going) not to long ago. So now i'm cruising around, in my once mint, 85 GSL with a glossy black headlight assebly, brown header panel and factory black primer fender, with the wavey hood off of alignment. Then i just got lazy and didn't bother putting back on my front valance. So it looks like im cruising to Rotary Revo. in a multicolor seven.

Haha..... the painting is easy. And I KNOW you don't really wanna take that bumper off again. I shudder to think of what's all involved to take the fender off.

looks better than when my dad hit a deer at 60mph with his xterra. he told me the deer literally flew about 30ft through the air.
and the xterra looked like it ate a civic for lunch, except there were deer parts still attached.
the next christmas, i got him a licenseplate frame that says "DEERSLAYER"

that sucks that you hit a deer... luckily you didnt hit it straight on and end up with a deer in your lap!
I nailed a deer at ~60 in my dads F150, the head went rolling down the street after me while I draged the bag of mush (I think I broke every bone in its body) a coulple yards down the road. the damage was less than 1k (it wasnt a very big deer), but it did scare the **** outta me!

Sorry, Bob. I didn't even respond to your query. Based on recent body repairs, I'd guess than 2kUSD for that little repair. Sorry to see the damage, but at least nobody got hurt.
You would have liked to see my former brother-in-law's VW Squareback after a front-end collision with a deer. *Much, much* worse. The brush-painted paint job he did after cleaning off the deer parts and pulling out what he could made for an interesting car. That was in the days before digital cams, and I have no pics.

Well, if you didn't have them before, now would be the time to go with the euro housings. I forget the cost, but I think the pair are cheaper than 1 housing from the dealer. $300 or so.
What kind of chip are you running?

Ah, thanks for the tip on the euro housings, I just might do that! Where can I get 'em?
I'm running the TAP chip. Not the best but it sure gave the car a nice kick in the pants that's for sure. Would you believe that the dealer actually install the chip for me!!! I kid you not, it was part the deal when I bought the car.

The chip is a nice difference. Only problem I ever had with mine (in over 30k miles) is I blew the bypass valve with the extra boost. But that part is cheap, I just put a TT one in.
I got my housings from www.awe-tuning.com. Right now they are $360 a pair, but you can get them cheaper with sales and such (I think I paid under $300). They are a decent bit brighter with nice defined light patterns.
