High idle issue.

I have a 1981 rx7 s model I just put a motor (12A It still has the rats nest) from an 83 gs into it. the motor ran fine until the swap. now I can't get it to idle at less then 2900 rpm. I have checked for vacuum leaks around the entire motor, I spent five hours doing this so have checked and double checked for leaks. so now I believe its the carb please help. I am willing to do all the baby steps to figure this out.

How's it run at 2900 rpm? have you checked the adjuster nut on the throttle cable? you should have a little slack on the cable.

checked it a couple of times but will again have also checked coils dizzy cap and rotor plug wires spark plugs igniter's and the entire rats nest for vacuum leaks and as stated before the throttle cable the choke and the hot start assist all in working order but I realize this will probably turn out to be something simple I have over looked

ok we took it out for a test drive and we think the CAT is pluged. the car is GUTLESS, the CAT was popping like popcorn and smoking like it was on fire, but it wasn't. were getting good spark from the coils we are going to be rechecking though.oh this is off topic but we got the electric sunroof working. the previous owner had "porcupine wire" jamed into the fuse box.
