Hidden Subwoofer...

I was poking around the Mazspeed Forum and found this..

http://www.mazspeed.com/howtohideyoursub.htm

For all I know it could have been there for years..
But I just saw it now.

Pretty cool design, Actually.

Even the dimensions...

why not put one in each bin? mine is an 80, so it has no bins, but that is definately a good idea.

If your 7 doesn't have bins, what's back there?

Some of the early cars had no doors fo the cubby holes.
The structure is there, a big carpeted hollow space but no doors, kinda silly 'eh? I bet the dude who came up with the idea of chucking some bins in there got a fat raise!

Props go out to the guy who did this, that is some real ingenuity, and i like the way it completely conceales the sub, but that is not the optimal location/firing path although its a good comprimise for security.

Well it might have turned out better if he used MDF. But I can say the bins do make a good location for subs (134db) just plan a little thats all.

Wow... i really like that second set up... real nice and clean. i gutted the rear of my interior cuz the carpet was all to crap... sanded everything down... painted it black... and then put my 2 tens in their bandpass box in the back scooted all the way to the front... well taht didn't last long cuz the things slid everywhere without the carpet, so i bought some braces at home depot and measured the bottom of the box... drilled holes put the braces in and screwed them in. Haven't had a problem since.
The first setup just seems like someone threw a sub in the box...maybe it is just the angle of the pic, but it just doesn't look clean at all.

Hey guys, those subs are not photoshopped. I just don't have a good camera, its my hanycam. Check out the webpage if your non believers, it has my step by step install. Anytime you blow up a photo it get grainy.

Those are 10s. I made a simple panel out of 3/4 inch MDF. I wanted to keep access to the storage area under it so I kept one bin. There is alot of room under there for amps and crossovers etc...
Nevertheless, my sub amp is under the drivers seat. The silver amp you see in the back is a 200 watt 4 channel Pheonix Gold to power the two 6X9 in the boxes and the two 61/2 inch mids in the stock locations. My Sony MP3 head unit powers small 4 inch speakers in the stock locations in the kick panel and two directional tweeters mounted on either side of the dash hump on a 1st gen. About 1000 watts total. More than what my alternator can keep up with. At night, I have to get creative with the power management because my BOSCH hi-po headlights and my mini fog lights will drain steadily unless I lower the volume or turn the lights off!

pick up a 2nd gen alternator- it will bolt right in and has more amps. Just make sure you grab the spacer!!!

Thanks for the tip M_Rock. I would consider it if the engine bay wasn`t getting stuffed with a small-block Ford.

You think I could still fit the battery in the pass storage compartment area?

All of them look good, pity all ours over here have a back seat, iv been thinking for years of doing something simular as a back seat in it doesnt get used very often (im 6'5 so theres no room fo anybody in there anyway) now i understand what the storage bins r! id rather that. back seats that small just get rubbish thrown on them, its not like you can get up to anything on them. thats what the utes for!
