Hey guys, hope you dont hate me for this...Changing my mind..

Ok, I really am starting to sound like a female. SORRY guys...

As many of you know I was planing on doing a streetported 12A etc w/ a turbo. But I got sussing the damage in $$$'s and it looks to be WAY WAY TOO MUCH... I talked with a shop on the phone today, and he recommended I go with a late model 13bt with fuel injection and a FMIC.. And then later a bigger turbo etc. Can you beleive this he just talked himslef outta some money, what a bunch of nice guys. But anyways, he recommended going with a J-Spec motor and maybe a rebuild on it, if I wanted too. If I got a good clean motor Id just wait till i toatsed it... LOL

Now what I need is someone or a website that can tell me exactly whats involved in doing a swap like this into an 85 12A chassis. I know besides the obvious mounting differences, fuel pump, and etc. And the need for an aftermarket computer to control the EFI or getting a factory to work on it? Help

Putting a 13b into a 1st is really simple.

1) front crover from a 12a or GSL-SE
2) save your-slef the head-ache and buy the front cross member from Mazdatrix or Racing Beat. It makes up for the differance in the length og the two motors.

And thats it to get it mounted.

I know about the oil pan and front cover from a GSL-SE or regular 12A... And about grinding 3/4" or the new crossmember... What bothers me is the CAS ignition and the EFI? That is what looks like the hard part? Any clues?

what ecu are you looking into? my wolf you have to cut alot of the teeth off the CAS and thats what is giving me the most problems at this moment. there is no real website that shows exactly what you need to do it cause all the turbo cars webpages ive seen are all different.. you can see my car and some of the chassis pics if you go to www.picturetrail.com and visit rx7power albums and go to folder *** some pics of my t2 motor and trans plus 3" driveshaft etc etc

Mike Have a look at 'almost too good too be true' on 2nd generation forum. Its a perfect case of let someone else pay for the improvements.
If I was in the USA I would jump at the deal.

@ rx7passion : I will check this out when I get home tonite, I gotta get to work right, now... Thanks for the link...

@ Paul Fitzwarryne : I can't get that lucky and find something like that.. But thanks for not saying you damn ******* we went through sometyhing just like 2 days ago...

Ok here was the general screwed up plan, purchase a 13bt J-Spec motor complete, drop it in and try to wire in a the factory ECU and coil packs etc (I have my vert to look at as far an example. I have the 85 schematic and will get the appropriate year schematic for the harness im gonna use) I know I'll need the complete engine harness and such. Well anyways for a $1,000 for the motor (complete) and a trip to the junk yard to rape a wrecked T2 for the ECU, harness, coil packs and whatever else Im gonna need. Its worth a shot...

In Australia we get a lot of second cars and engines from Japan, the advantages of also being righthand drive. Many tune shops here stock several imported 13bt engines as few Gen2-3s are parted.

What is the difference between a Jspec 13bt and a Turbo II motor imported into the USA from 1997. Are there any advantages in importing a motor?

In the case of 12at it is different as only Japan had the RX7 as a retail item, and now they are a collectors item with a mega yen price tag. The few 12ats which come on the market really need a rebuild and parts are difficult to obtain. I returned quickly came going down that track.

A cheap low mileage engine for people that don't want to build their own...

The main thing I saw was a $1000 price tag with EVERYTHING being there... I know the easiest thing to do would be find a 2nd gen T2 car that has a bad motor and just do that, but how many 1st gens you see with a t2 in it? Not to mention there are FAR more aftermarket parts out there for a FC than a FB.

I guess looks like the easiest path to do this is a MSD box, and a aftermarket FI computer... And I havent a clue where to look to get one yet But Im gonna order this motor soon, I guess Ill find out what I have to do, and start a webpage...

Oh and I checked the photo albumn out.... THANX
