Here's a serious...real question...

Ok, say I just wan't to put a 13b in my car but I don't want to go EFI. However, I can't go aftermarket like a Holley setup because I need it street legal and CA sucks tit.

So, can I get a 6 port 13b (or 4 port) and an intake manifold that allows me to run my Nikki setup. Would I see any power increase?

You best bet, would be to disgiuse the 13b as the 12a. You can use a nikki carb, they came on the old style 13b 4-ports, transfer ALL of the emissions stuff, and the guys at the inspection station will see nothing wrong.

The only problem is the 13B engine number cast into the housing which they may check.

well, i'm not going to try to persuade or disuade you in you endeavor for a carb'd 13B that will get you through emissions, but you might want to weigh the pros and cons before getting all of that together.

1 - i suspect that one of the "old" 13B's, because of it's larger ports, the air pump might not be able to offset the increase in HC's and NOx's ... i have no numbers to back this up, but it's a pretty educated "guess"

2 - if you built a 4-port out of an SE motor and 12A parts, you'll have smaller, more emission-friendly ports, but the power increase, at best, over your stock 12A would be like adding maybe a header and upgraded air filter ... and that's all for the cost of building a motor, adapting your exhaust, and trying to retrofit 12A emission equipment where they never were before ...

i'm sure it's doable, but for 10-20 HP (at best) i'd just throw on an exhaust system that can me made legal by turning a few wrenches ... that's my 2 cents, for free

this is not the case

i am running an old 13b, as you call it. for emissions i made a cat pipe with one cat, hooked a stock 12a air pump up to it , and i passed with no problems.

your best bet is just to find someone who does not care about the visual inspection, and make sure that it will burn clean for the sniffer.
