Help removing clutch pedal assembly
I'm swapping out my a/t with a manual on my 83. I have a parts car. everything is moving along but I'm having trouble removing the pedal assembly. Any tips?
Also, is the a/t and manual rear axle the same? I noticed the drive lines are identical.

First, remove the front seats then unbolt the brake booster from the pedal assembly and use a combination of 1/4 sockets and 3/8 sockets set. the nuts are 12mm. the rest, you will figure it out when you get there but see pix below when I converted my RX-3s to FB brake booster and pedal assembly. FB is the one with a 4-hole

If you do a search, there are a couple in depth threads on doing tranny swaps. Besides being double jointed, the best tip for removing the pedalbox is to be patient. Wacky had a good suggestion, 1/4 drive sockets can get into tighter places than 3/8 and can make all the difference sometimes. Are both cars the same or diferent years? You can "upgrade" rear ends depending on what years you are working with, but generally rearends should be interchaneable. Not sure about FB's but SA's use different drive shafts, starters, a reverse wiring harness and (I think) crossmember mounts on manual vs. automatic tranmissions.

you need not remove the entire pedal box. you can remove the auto trans brake pedal and install the manual trans brake and clutch pedals into your existing pedal box. you will need the longer through bolt, bushings, and washers. its a simple (yet frustrating and time consuming) procedeure. i have an entire writeup with pictures on an auto to manual trans swap if you are interested.

1/4" sockets make working on these cars so much easier, not just for the clutch pedal, but a lot of other things too
