Injectors in

Installed cleaned injectors with no problems. Ended up using the original connectors as in place with clips they were secure. I didn't notice the flat area on the injectors until I looked at the photos, one is turned but I don't think that is a problem. If it is let me know and I'll correct. Also removed the pulsation dampner, plastic was cracked, and installed banjo bolt. Replaced fuel line with Gates high pressure injector and covered with heat sheath to try and combat vapor lock last summer. May not work but was cheap enough to do.

Car runs much nicer now at idle and may be my imagination but seems smoother accelerating. Injector grommets were hard as rocks so I assume there was some air leaking going on. Actual injectors tested to not be leaking and had good flow. One was improved by cleaning and one was not but it was OK before cleaning. Injectors were 5.4% imbalanced and now are at 2.4%.

Resetting some things I had experimented with such as timing and primary throttle position. After going through everything again will post final followup.

I've been using the FC style plugs for years in both my 12A (stock ignition) and 13B with the direct fire conversion. Both seem to idle much smoother, start easier, and not need plug changes as often. The 13B is an SE 6P, but has the RB intake with an edelbrock 600 on top.

The 12A hasn't had new plugs in about 5 years, but it's getting time to change them, as cold starts aren't as easy as they used to be. I guess that is to be expected, with ~20K on a set of plugs......... Particularly since it's been fed a steady diet of oil from both the OMP and .5oz/gal premix as a safety net.

Thanks, I have a set and will try them when everything is resolved.

I hate to do this but think this thread is way off course and will revive an old thread with the remaining problem. Still plagued with the idle and A/C on. I get it close but never right. Thanks everyone for the help. As a result of suggestions:

* Plugs changed to RX-8. Very expensive but hopefully will last a long time.
* Found and replaced several old vacuum hoses on the right side of the car I had not changed.
*Finally pulled the injectors and had them professionally cleaned. Rubber around the injectors was rock hard.
*Went through FSM procedures for idle, and timing; back to factory settings.

The non-AC idle is very smooth now. "Seat of the pants" measured power is better. Acceleration is smooth. Gas mileage on last test was 16.8, which is a 1 MPG improvement.

Thanks everyone for the help! Most missions accomplished.
