Help...Oil in the H2O

I just baught a little 1984 RX7 and love it. Im new to the rotary game and in already in love. But there is one problem. I flushed the coolant and there is oil inth the water. what can this mean??? Do I need to do a rebuild, or should I just wait and save untill it dies and then drop a new better motor in? It also has a sound that comes from around the exhaust manifold area. when I first heard it I thought it was the valves......Don't laugh I didn't know. So Im guessing its an exhaust leak. Its not loud but constant and I would rather have a quite little rocket instead of drawing more attention to it. I plan on getting the RB exhaust system so should I wait or try to fix the (possible)bad gasket.??? THANKS TX_antonio. By the way only spent $700 on the car

The noise you speak of could be an exhaust leak. I don't know of anything else in that area that would make any odd sounds besides the heat sheild around the exhaust manifold. I could see that just rattling, but it would be an irractic sound, not constant like you say. As for the oil in the coolant, don't panic. I wouldn't worry too much about it if its only a little bit. Wait till it grows into a bigger problem to address it. But chances are that in the future, you will need the rebuild. But I like you thinking. I think you should just wait to get the racing beat exhast for that exhaust sound, and just put a better engine in when you need to. Basically, I am going to slowly build up a streetport 13BT with a blowthrough carb setup for the time that my 12A does pop. Hopefully that won't happen till after college because if it happens before I will be in BIG trouble with college sucking in all my money reserves. Thats why I REALLY need a parts car right now.

Anyway, good luck and welcome to the forum.

Thanks alot, I would like to drop a street ported 12a, is this going to be expensive?? I am used to V8s and the infamous in-line six. and for those rebuilt street motors I would be looking at 3-5 thousand. I don't really want a whole lot of power....yeah right....But I do want to build a motor that I can ...for lack of a better word..."Rag" on.
