Help! Need some advice befor I start messing around!
My car wont start! I have not been driving it over the winter, but things are looking up so I want to start driving her again.I have been storing her for 3 months and starting her up every once in awhile and letting her run.So...I pulled her into the garage a couple of weeks back and installed a new stereo sytem and speakers and did some engine bay cleaining/removed some stuff.I started her up and pulled her out of the garage after I found out my battery had died, so i put a new one in and she fired right up.
Now I try and start it, put the battery in,, turn the ignition on (everything lights up, new stereo system works well) the I try and turn it over and there is smoke from the positive terminal and everything dies until i take off, the positive or negative lead and recconnect it again and the same thing happens , puff of smoke then death.
Any ideas/suggestion? I think it maybe is a ground or somehting. Any thoughts would be helpful. Also I have tried a good battery or two.

Take a GOOD look at the ground cable from the starter to battery make sure that it is good.
I would replace it myself just because you put a NEW stereo system if you have a small ground cable it will cause the lights to dim.
I run into something like this the cable (Ground) will get real hot!!!
When you have a BAD ground it will pull a lot of AMPS causing the battery to die. I hope this helps you & good luck...
