Help...my lights
here's the thing. just got the car back together and got it on the road. only thing is...i dont have any dash lights, tail lights or marker lights on the corners. i've got brake lights, turn signals and headlights. just no tail lights, dash lights or marker light. i've replaced the bulbs in the back so i know its not them. only thing i can think of is some sorta wiring problem. but i'm not sure. anyone had this before? anyone have any ideas? thanks.

I had that exact same thing. Check the fuse. Sounds stupid I know, but it could be due to a non factory cd player. That's what was doing it to my 82. I think it was drawing too much juice and shorting out the fuse. I had to run my stereo through my defroster circuit instead. Try taking out the stereo and replacing the fuse and see what happens because all of that runs off the same circuit.

it had an aftermarket stereo in it but it was taken out before i got the car. they were working after the stereo was taken out. i took some wiring outta the back for the stereo cuz i didnt want it sittin around. it also wouldnt have anything to do with the little things underneath the drivers seats. i think they may be amps or somethin? i have no idea. i'm pretty sure they're factory though.

No. Mine didn't have anything to do with the amps. It was just only if the stereo was hooked up and I turned my lights ON. It would blow the fuse. I'd have headlights brakel ights turn signals, all of that. But no tails or interiors. *I never really checked side markers* All I can really tell you is that when I disconected my stereo, things quit frying. Not positive why, but then again I didn't really care.

take your cover off your steering coulomb find the harness that goes to you light set up then ground a 9v battery to the car use the power lead to test the light signal wire.
If all your lights work when you jump them you know its not you switch.
Proceed to the mid section of the harness under the drivers seat, do the same thing here you will be able to tell if the tail light wiring is ok. if its all good then you need to get into the dash basic testing in locations will help you find your problem.
Its a long hard job but it needs to be done!

your dash lights were messed up by mazda themselves if you ground a wire that isn't supposed to be it will kill the lights without popping a fuse, but if you power one light socket like i told you how to do before you will find your problem with a spark, you just have to test things in baby steps with wiring.
refer to the FSM for a diagram off all the wires i told you about.

Its a fuse. When I installed my remote entry system I touched something and blew a fuse but never noticed. Afterwards had the same issue. Had to poke around the fuse box below the drivers dash until I found it. It was blown but you couldn't see it. The fuse blew right near one end and didn't darken the glass or show a break. Just start pulling fuses and checking them. It took me a couple of weeks to realize what was up and then I fixed in a few minutes once I started poking around the fuses.
