Help Me Guys!!!
Ok spin-heads... I had recently acquired a 13B engine (turns out the motor had a broken seal too DAMMIT). So I dragged my *** over to T & R racing to talk to guys about rebuilding my current engine one last time.
Turns out that for what I want done (If the motor is gonna get popped open, may as well port it too right?). Well after we talked at length about all the different options I have for rebuild the CHEAPEST option that included any type of engine modding would run me about $2100 DAMMIT AGAIN
Now this is where I need yous (yes that is a word) help. I have seen online several places that sell complete engines with all the options you want. For example Atkins Rotary sells the 84 - 85 13B for 1650 PLUS 300 for porting. (I am going with a carbed 13B cause I want more power).
Now heres the question: Where can I get a FRESHLY built and ported (street or bridge) 84-85 carbed 13B from and preferebly a place that will ship the damn engine and that is at the very least on the North american continent.
Thanks fellas

After searching for you all day, all I can say is that you'll have to settle for a used engine.
They just don't make em brand new these days. Or at least I can't find em...
Good luck with your search...
Oh... go here to find some good used engines

Rx7Passion if I remeber correctly the 13Bs in the 84-85 are 4 port designs and I know for a FACT that they are carbureted. So Far I have found ONE place in canada that sells rebuilt engines and they will ship.
Hows $1225 + $300 for porting grab you fellas?

What about using 12A side housings and 13B rotor housings?
That'll get you a 4-port 13B. While you are at it, do the 3mm Apex seals and the lighter rotors with higher compression.
No, I'm crazy.
'84-85 13B are out of GSLSEs, and definately 6-port, which limits the effectiveness of porting.
I'll state the obvious since it is in line with your question:
Mazdatrix
Racing Beat
Rotory Performance
Power House Engineering
nippon-motors.com (used) T2 only
MazdaRecycling.com (used and rebuilt)
Yaw Power Products

Super Newbie
$1200 for a rebuilt engine is ****** cheap. Especially considering that a good engine seal set is upwards of 900 bucks in itself.
See what new parts they use in those engines.

Where can I get info on 'creating' a 4 port 13B by using several 12a parts?

All you really need to do is rebuild a GSL-SE motor but use 12A side housings and viola! you have a 4 port 13B. (I plan on doing the same thing in my GS). I'm looking into maybe building a 13BT motor but using high compression rotors so I can carb it. BTW, the turbo motors have huge exhaust ports so you would only need to port the intake ports.

The width of the 13B rotor housing would make the exhaust ports sit further apart than the 12A. So I don't think the 12A header would work. Note that all headers for sale mention that they are either for a 12A or 13B.
You can buy intake adapters for around $150 that would let you use the 12A intakes on either 4 or 6 port 13B engine.
