Help Installing FB Brake Proportion Valve..
Hi all,
Ive got my car on the road and have driven it 3x in the last 4 weeks since it being sorted.. realised that the rears are locking up and then limbed home and found that it don't have the stock proportion valve plumbed in at all!!
My car has a fd brake master but just wanted to find out if anyone can help me out and tell me which lines go into it etc. I looked in the Haynes manual and it don't tell you anything on how it needs to be plumbed - I presume its only for the fronts and rear comes straight off booster or something..
FD master ive got and the t piece for the fronts seeming coming straight from the master to caliper...
and here is the proportion valve I bought not sure if its fc or fb as the guy couldn't recall..
BTW : My brakes are the big brake re speed front and back setup..

Prop Valve Plumbing
The attached image shows the correct prop valve plumbing. These things use a reference pressure from the front brake circuit to reduce the pressure for the rear circuit. Typical is to pass the line for the opposite side front brake (the Left one, in your case) through the prop valve. The rear circuit passes through the prop valve as indicated by the arrows.
I'm not sure that either an FC or FD prop valve would be optimal for your setup, but I imagine either one is close.
Why are you using an FD booster / master cylinder instead of the original FB?

Yeh I don't know why either the original owner who started it had one spare I guess!
If worst comes of just adding the proportion valve and its still playing up ill put the fb master in that I have spare..
Cheers for your reply Elwood

Hey does anyone think that the below pic will work with using the fd master and fb proportion valve....
Basically upon further investigations the FD master only has 2 circuits - 1 front 1 rea - unlike the fb's 3
Ill leave the t piece in place for the front where it is and run the other side to the proportion valve and the rear to it like in the pic..
OR
shall I just be done with it and reinstall a fb unit and plumb it up...

Yeah I would agree. i'm also not a fan of how the lines are just haphazardly run in your car Damon. They should be tucked up to the frame/firewall/wheel well etc and attached with something to keep them from vibrating too much. I'd be worried that too much vibration/movement would cause leaks/cracks etc down the road....
