Help

I have a 85 se and need some information. I have tackled pretty much everything on the car but, never broke into the engine. I was told that a home wrencher can't rebuild a rotary. Where can i find light kits (areolights), body kits (besides mazdatrix), and 15'' wheels. And how would you recalibrate your speedo for bigger wheels, mine are 14''.

Who told ya that the at home wrencher can't rebuild the engine?

Guess what? They're wrong!

If you can rebuild a boinger, you can rebuild a spinner.

You'll need the same things you'd need for the boinger, minus the cylinder hone. You'll need your wrench set, sockets, ratchets, assorted screwdrivers, plires, etc. Feeler gauge, micrometer, all sorts of inspection tools, Gasket and seal sets, RTV, Assembly lube. Grab a Haynes manual. It gives ya the basics.

Of course it all depends on how far you wanna get into it. Do you really need to rebuild the engine?

Aero lights might be a bit hard to find. Personally I like the flip up lights, but you didn't ask for my opinion... :p

Ebruni ( www.ebrunicorp.com ) sells some body kits, Also check out Mariah ( www.mariahmotorsports.com ).

Wheels are easy to find for the SE. With that 4x4.5 Bolt pattern, you can get almost anything.

Recalibrating the speedo requires a ratio box. Most of us just leave it alone.

I don't think you'll need to recalibrate your speedo.

Stock tires on a GSL-SE are 205/60 x 14", and the diameter of these
tires is about 23.5".

I calculate it by using (0.205) (39.36) (.6) (2) + 14"

If you decide to get 15" wheels, then 215/50 x 15" tires will give you
about the same diameter and the same rolling circumference.

At 70 mph, it's less than a 1-mph difference, by my calculations.
