Help; I screwed with my carb!

Well I thought I would modify my 12a for more power and I think I screwed up bad.

I took an old intake manifold and removed the shutter valve blocked off the holes and anything else I could see that need it.

I took my spare carb rebuilt it using the standard mazda rebuild kit and then removed everything that looked like it was not important to the carb operation.

I modified the secondarys to manual operation and bolted everything back on the engine.

I removed all the little shutter valves and the mess of hoses and ran vacuum lines to the dizzy and the cruise control.

I also fabbed an ACV block off plate.

The thing runs like ****!

It will not run on the primaries no matter what I adjust, but it runs like a bat out off hell when i get into the secondaries.

It will start and idle but the more I mess with the adjustments the worse it gets.

I am about to give up and put the old carb back on.

HELP!

Scott

Carb Help!

Scott,

ther is a vent hose on the carb that must be left unplugged! When looking at the fuel lines(in and return) it will be just to the left and down this is a vent do not plug it. Also be sure to retain the "dash pot" on the carb linkage. Wiring the secondaries and getting rid of the shutter valve should not hurt you at all as far as performance goes, idleinlcuded. Also 2 of those vaccum lines go the the distributer for vaccum advance on leading and trailing, keep vaccum to the distributor. All metal nipples of the air cleaner are to be piched closed, NO hoses should be going to the air cleaner at this point. Be sure the rubber hose coming off your oil filler is not plugged, be sure to through your canister in the garbage, there is a small resisitor pack that sits close to all the emissions valves, keep it. If I can remember any more I will let your know. Good luck, ciao
