HEI Igniton Module Problems
Over a year and a half ago I swapped the SE over to HEI modules, no problems. A few months back my idle started to sit around 3k and then started surging. Went through trouble shooting the intake for leaks, pulled throttle plates for cleaning, swapped and calibrated the tps, tried a couple different dizzys, installed new HEIs and tested my wiring harness for shorts, poor connections and unusual restiance readings. Only thing to cure it was putting back a J109 in the trailing position, I have to have missed something. I can't except not being able to solely use HEIs.

Bump I'd like to know the answer to this provlem myself since I realize that someday, there will be no J109's. Also surprised that trailing position. I thought that was like the cleanup part of the combusion cycle. HMMM

I switched my leading to HEI due to cost of replacement J109's. Only have a couple of hundred miles on it, but it's doing fine. Had some problems initially due to bad connection in the new wires I made to connect it up.

New HEI ignition module at Advance Auto Parts is $16...
When I needed one, there were none on eBay. Have since bought a distributor in good condition with 2 good J109's on it, plus rotor & wires for $40.
