Heater Problem Resolved
Just a quick note to say that I fixed the no heat problem in my '79. The fans would work, and the baffles would move, but there was no heat. I felt both heater hoses and one was hot, but the other was cold. So I looked at the heater core and sure enough, the coolent valve was closed. The little actuator rod had bent. I unbent the rod and now everything works great. Just FYI.

About your MP3 player!
Slightly off topic. Who makes your MP3 player, where did you get it, and how much did it cost? If you don't mind my asking. I was looking at getting a MP3 player, but don't really want a receiver/CD/MP3 player. I would just prefer a receiver/CD player then get a MP3 player to hook in with it.
Thanks or the info,
Chris

Sounds interesting, may I ask what the final cost was? May I ask why you didn't perhaps do a custom install into the bin area? Still do the lexan but make the top of the lexan flush with the bin area? Kinda like they do with audio equipment in those showy type cars. It would be more difficult, but would look very nice in my opinion.

Total cost was about $700 Can, so roughly $20 US
I didn't install into the bin area because I actually didn't think of it. I just built the case and mounted it behind the drives seat without even thinking. I guess I could have put it in the bin area but that would have made it a little annoying when I needed to service the system.

I hope you mean $200 US.
I thought about it at lunch some, and realized how I would implement this if I get around to doing the same thing. My idea is to use one of the storage bins for the case. I think they come out fairly easily, and I could fashion a lexan cover for it. Should make servicing easier.
Just my 2 cents,
Chris

$20 US. I was being sarcastic. With the current exchange rate, $700 Canadian is about $350 US.

Cool site. I think I will employ a TFT screen if I decide to do one of these. If it works really well, I'll put one in my wifes car as well! Perfect for those long 12 hour drives to see my family!
