Headlight question
On one of my 85's headlights, one side of one of the plastic 'slider grommets' (for lack of a better term) is broken. Lights go up & down fine, down sits a little crooked, however. If anyone can figure out the piece I'm talking about (there are two or three on each side, they have a groove that the light slides on), can these be replaced? Can't figure out how to get the bugger off.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Yeah, I had the same problem. Unfortunately, the rubber 'rest' adjuster on mine didn't do the trick and it ended up turning out to be that the headlamp lid (part that's painted) was bent. I took it off, straightened it out and reinstalled it. It looks and operates fine now. Sometimes when the headlights go down, there is a little clunk, so I'm suspecting that the bushings in the rods are bad - the rods move a lot from side to side. I guess I'll have to replace those...

Yeah thats the things..the bushings! How you get them puppies off, I can get some from a boneyard 3 miles away that has 2 dead FB's and 1 FC. I can get more off & send to you guys if need be.
Thanks!

I'll take a look at the carcass in my driveway this afternoon and see how they come out. It's not like I'm going to hurt the car any more than it is already...hope you can wait that long...

It dawned on me after reading your initial posting that we were talking about two different things. If you're meaning the "arms" that attach to the motor that raises and lowers the headlamp assembly, then yes, those things pop on or pop off the ball studs of the motor and the headlamp bracket. They are available new since the plastic bushings don't age well. You can't get the bushings by themselves. I'm going out this afternoon to look for your "slidey" thing to see if we're on the same page this time!

Yes, its one of the bushings that is broken on mine, I was wondering if I can somehow get them off a carcass & reinstall them in mine, but I can't figure out how to get the this off without breaking them. I guess, replace the entire slider assembly w/ bushings as a unit?
