flush or sleepy eyes? MAKE BOTH!!!!!!! lol I'll buy either one if you make it for me.

Question about the sleepy eye deal... I heard if you take the cap off the motor you can adjust the height of the lights. Well something along those lines...Anybody know what I am talking about?

Im not too sure what sleepy eyes are, i scrolled through and didnt see a picture. I ment flush mounted lights. Just have two buckets made out of 1/16 steel or just a little thinner gauge, some headlights from cdn tire (digh def) and some lexan, whatevers the best. Plus a little hardware and maybe a couple connectors so you can just plug it right into the old harness.

I was referring to the fixed lamp kits, not flip up kits that keep the lights within the bucket.

YA i dont want the flip up ones, and those kits would prolly be a bitch to make, so im going to stick to the picture i drew in like 5 seconds and make a set like that. Hey, anyone make over head strut bars. Im just asking because i make them for my honda and i was thinking of making two for the rx7.

you mean strut tower bars? Yup, there are a few making and selling them, both 2 point and triangulated.

Well I guess I will research on the sleepy eye kit and see how hard it would be to make it work. I just am not the person with the money to blow 330 bucks on something if it dont work, I am not rich. lol I will do research on it though and see what exactly it would take to make them work. WOULD ANYBODY BE INTERESTED IN SLEEPY EYES WITH DUAL LIGHTS FOR THEIR 7????

You never know. Make a set and il tell you if im up for a spare set. See what i like better. As for strut bars, il prolly just make two for myself out of aluminum, that and a set of fender braces, and maybe a b pillar bar to go along with it.

Well I found some for 340. The thing is if I buy them and try to modify them and mess up, thats 340 down the drain.

Is there no way just to use the stocker setup and mod the headlights so they look like they do with the sleepy eyes? use the original "eye lids" i mean. If so, then i might be willing to do conversions, depending how hard it is to do it. Il try my stockers first.

I'm going to go out and start taking measurements of an FD's headlight and a new C6 'Vette then compare them to my car. Once I get the measurements, I'll be able to go from there. I'm really up for modifying another car's kit (i.e. FD) or stock headlight (C6 'Vette). I figured since getting plexiglass to mold just right like an FB is difficult, I'm going towards the route of lenses with the lamp bubbles in them, that way one won't really have to worry about fitment. Altho I am concerned about how well I'd be able to come across something that'll work well with how deep the slope is.

why not just find the OEM supplier of Corvette projector lamps and use those components? Or aftermarket lamps of similar size? The bezel and cover would be pretty much useless for RX-7 application since they're molded to fit the Corvette, but the lamps are just parts that GM buys and installs.

Lamps wouldn't be a problem, I'm just trying my best to think of alternatives for lenses to not have one worry about forming the plexiglass around it. Maybe a specialty shop could mold the plexiglass around the projectors once those have been installed. Can't blame a guy for trying.

Well see the thing about making the stock lights into sleepy eyes is you will not be getting all the light that you need to see. It will be cut in half because it wont raise all the way. Thats why they put the dual lights so you use all of the lights when they are flipped up. I know there are ways to make your stock lights sleepy eyes but I would have to search for them.

Just a word here guys - everybody talks about plexiglass. I had the wonderful job of replacing plexiglass windows on my boat. Went to a plastics store and learned that plexiglass deteriorates in the UV from the sun. Use LEXAN. This is also called polycarbonate (Lexan is actually the brand name). Lexan also has the lovely little benefit that you can actually bend a 90 degree crease in it without cracking. 2 sheets 1/4" thick 1 ft x 6ft and 2 sheets 8'' x 5 ft cost me $56 cdn. You need a heck of a lot less, and also thinner (read cheaper) stuff to make headlight covers.

Seems to me all you would have to do is buy the dual lamps, flip the headlight retractor switch so the headlights are up, put them in and manually crank the lights down to the desired position and just leave the switch alone and they wont move when you turn the lights on. That's just my theory on the simplest way. I'm probably wrong though
