haynes calls for.....

1.8 quarts in manual trans is this correct, it doesnt seem like very much?

I put in that much. It wasn't even enough to drip out the back when I removed the butt plug to install the driveshaft.

but it is enough to sufficiently protect and lubricate everything?

Thats about right. Just fill until it starts to come out the fill hole, then wipe up and plug er up.

Yeah that's right. Just don't fill it up til it's pooring out of the hole but a slight run is fine. 1.8 quarts should leave it about 1/8" below the fill hole which is where it should be

Yep, I put around that much in. I try and keep it right below the fill hole.

do i also need to top off inside of the shifter, i recall doing that before...but it never drained out from the trans and i am fresh out of gear lube.......if it circulates through i could dump some of my lucas in there.....whaddya think?

in the trans i put a 50/50 mix of atf and 75w 90 both royal purple. in the diff i put in the same oil, RP with some lucas ****.

Only the SA allowed you to pour down through the shifter and even then you didn't want to "top it up".

Just take out the fill plug, fill it until it starts to run out a little, then plug it. About 2L aught to do it, probably a little less.
