Had a crappy idle........... now I have no idle after MAF replaced
85 gsl-se had a rough idle but would stay at an idle with no much problem. I replaced the MAF with a used one now I have to keep the peddle on it at all times to keep it going. I was thinking that my original MAF was bad (it was filled up with goo) but I am about to put it back on since it performed better than the new(used) one. Anyone know why this would happen?

First off, put the other AF meter back on.
Secondly, there's a lot going on that affects an SE's idle, and only part of that equation is the Air Flow meter. The rest has to do with the Idle Compensator, Intake Air Temp sensors (there are 2), coolant temp sensor on the back of the waterpump, the Bypass Air Control Valve on the Throttle Body, the Thermowax Pellet and Fast Idle Cam on the primary throttle, and then there's always 'Surging' from the Secondary Throttle Plates sticking, too.
That paragraph will probably get you enough info to search on for threads that I've posted over the years. Getting an SE to idle well is as much art as science.
